The Dubai World Cup from Nad al Sheba Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates is one of the great annual racing spectacles, and HorseRacing TV (TM) (HRTV) will give racing fans a unique behind-the-scenes look at the spectacular event with a special edition of its news magazine show,
“Inside Information — Dubai World Cup,”
HRTV reporter and host Scott Hazelton, who also served as reporter for the World Feed of the World Cup, ventured to the UAE during Dubai World Cup week — which culminated with a staggering $21 million in purse money being doled out in six stakes races on Dubai World Cup night on March 29.
In this 30-minute “Inside Information” show, Hazelton ushers racing fans on an entertaining, unique journey through one of racing’s most wondrous venues. He offers a special look at his trip to the Middle East, and witnesses how Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and the Ruler of Dubai, has transformed the desert region into a horse racing metropolis.
Hazelton also details Sheikh Mohammad’s vision of horse racing’s future in the UAE, with the continued development of a new billion-dollar racing facility called “Meydan.”
Jess Jackson, the owner of reigning Horse of the Year Curlin, who won this year’s Dubai World Cup in brilliant fashion, summed up Sheikh Mohammed’s influence on horse racing.
“He’s probably he most influential factor of ethics and financial support for the Thoroughbred world-wide,” Jackson told HRTV. “And he’s not doing (it) for the greed, but (rather) for the Thoroughbred, and the betterment of the racing and the horse.”
“Inside Information — Dubai World Cup” was produced by HRTV’s VP of Post Production Phil Kubel, who also served as videographer Dubai. Daisy Phipps, a frequent contributing producer to “Inside Information,” was instrumental in field producing the Dubai World Cup show.
