Marijuana Cannabis Use In Pregnancy Dr. Dreher

Melanie Dreher, RN, PhD, FAAN explains her cannabis and pregnancy research study in Jamaica. Pregnant women and their children were studied for over ten plus years, both marijuana smokers and non-smokers were included in the study. One of the first scientific studies of the effects that cannabis may have on pregnancy and the child’s development thereafter.

    great study!! gov has to stop scaring women about smoking during pregnancy.

  2. un55tongmyon68 says:

    I wonder where in …
    I wonder where in Jamaica she could find enough participants who do NOT smoke ganja/marijuana.

  3. licon007 says:

    The New England …
    The New England Journal of Medicine study was also done while using cocaine, so comparing that one to this study is wrong.

  4. Baalthazaq says:

    @marcoze Seriously …
    @marcoze Seriously though, go look up the calculator, go look up how you determine an accurate sample size.

    Then put her numbers in that equation. Take the incidence rate as the margin of error, drop the confidence rate until you get her sample size.

    That will tell you how accurate her study is.

    This isn’t government controlled, this is flat out math, findable anywhere.

    And you accuse *me* of ignoring reality? Can I borrow your failure calculator, you just failed harder than I can count.

  5. Baalthazaq says:

    @marcoze
    My my, …

    @marcoze
    My my, aren’t we witty.
    I don’t live in, or have any connection to, the USA. Therefore to “the government” I assume you accused me of having (unless we’re talking NWO here). My profile says this.

    Your profile has nothing but videos of you smoking weed, and says you live in the united states. I made the assumption, from evidence, you had a dealer.

    You called me names for making a possibly inaccurate inductive leap, when you are making definitely inaccurate uninspired statements…

  6. marcoze says:

    @Baalthazaq

    Lol, …
    @Baalthazaq

    Lol, once again you fail at showing any type of Intelligence or valued higher learning. Listen to what dealer my man? Whos dealer?? Do i have a dealer??

    Or are you once again talking out of your asshole……id bet thats the case because its hard not to when your head is so far up there.

    Like i said, the Government loves you (The Govt i did not Elect). Im sure they appreciate your blind eye to reality and continue to fund their projects.

    Try the failure calculator.

  7. Baalthazaq says:

    @marcoze So, we’re …
    @marcoze So, we’re instead going with the stereotype that the government ( a collection of elected officials who don’t get to keep much of the taxes we send their way) wants our money and is “out to get us”.

    Meanwhile we should continue to listen to your dealer for all the latest breakthroughs in medicine.

    Irrespective of opinions: You should know that a 60 person study for a <3% incidence rate is meaningless. Look up “How to choose a sample size” in Google. Try the Raosoft calculator.

  8. marcoze says:

    @Baalthazaq The …
    @Baalthazaq The 1200 person study that was backed by Govt. Funding???

    No one wants to hear it man, we have heard it since any of us using the internet was born.

    But thanks for following along with the stereotypes of people who think the Govt knows best. The Govt. loves you and your willingness to follow them as a sheep.

    Does anyone have an actual link to her research article?

  10. Baalthazaq says:

    So this 60 person …
    So this 60 person study, according to some of you, “proof the issue is political more than anything else”.

    Anyone going to talk about the 1200 person study that found the opposite by the New England Journal of Medicine? No?

    If you want to make claims about “Science”, you make claims about the body of scientific evidence, not one study. Especially when telling pregnant women something will not harm their child, when most of the evidence suggests it will.

    That’s just irresponsible.

  11. psychonautical420 says:

    This is not a …
    This is not a scientific experiment, it’s a sociological and/or statistical study..but considering these are the type of studies that the DEA and ONDCP (etc) recite as holy scripture – I’d say this is a very valid argument for the reform of cannabis laws.

  12. ladylynz1 says:

    This is proof that …
    This is proof that this issue is more political anything else. Our government floods our minds with infor they prefer us to hear, when the truth of these types of findings are withheld. I am “pro choice” on this issue, although I would not smoke pot while pregnant myself, I would not prosecute a woman who chooses to. My only concern would be the possibility of obtaining the drug illegally in the US it may not be a pure herb at that point. But this is very eye opening, and interesting findings!

    im pregnant and i do it. i argued with one of my friends that its not bad. he tries to tell me that his aunt is a nurse so he would know about it. he knows nothing

  15. datwhiitegurl says:

    I really hope …
    I really hope nothing happens to this lady. We need a few people around who want to share the truth in a smart way.

    She’s not fighting spin with spin, she’s fighting ignorance with knowledge.

  16. datwhiitegurl says:

    no, it was 70 …
    no, it was 70 spliffs a week. about 10 a day.

  17. saylista says:

    i think that …
    i think that smoking pure herb is probably different than smoking herb laced with all the chemicals that permeate herb sold in the us. id still refrain from smoking the herb while prego, despite the study.

  18. Fastlan3 says:

    That is great and a …
    That is great and a common choice, remember there are other ways of consuming cannabis, as in tea or perhaps for when needed, a vaporizer.

    remember, cannabis smoke is NOT cigarette smoke, and to this day has not shown any signs of causing any mutation of cells or DNA, but quite the opposite. cannabis has been discovered to help maintain healthy cellular growth and rejuvenize and repair damaged cells.

    braino, she said some lady smoked 70 a day. THATS a ton.

  22. nsweet79 says:

    Smoking is not good …
    Smoking is not good for you, and does have some health concerns. However you can consume cannabis using alternate delivery methods (Vaporizers, Oils, Edibles, etc) and still receive the medicinal value, without smoking it and causing negative impact on your lungs.

    I dnt think the weed itself is bad i just think inhaling the smoke is duh so ither way i wouldnt smoke DURING my pregnancy..

    Another factual …
    Another factual scientific study done. I had read about this study done in Jamaica recently on the net, but to hear the words coming from the main person that did the study is Awesome. I loved the ending where she shows an actual prescriptions given to a lady for Ovarian Cancer and the cough syrup for children with Cannabis as the Main ingredient. Our recent history has been erased to cover up the harms done to us by outlawing this wonderous plant. Possibly the most beneficial plant!

  25. braino2000 says:

    HOLY SHIT!! So this …
    HOLY SHIT!! So this study confirmed that cannabis made healthy babies? TEN SIX INCH SPLIFFS A DAY??? THAT’S A TON OF WEED!!! the more the healthier it seems!!
