Social development can be summarily described as the process of organizing human energies and activities at higher levels to achieve greater results. Development increases the utilization of human potential. Social competence refers to the social, emotional, and cognitive skills and behaviors that we need for successful social adaptation. Despite this simple definition, social competence is an elusive concept, because the skills and behaviors required for healthy social development vary with the age and with the demands of particular situations. Social skills are a group of skills which people need to interact and communicate with others. In todays diverse society any and all social skills will come into play, we have become so politically correct that we have limited our abilities to communicate to others exactly what we mean, the best theory is the one you figure out for yourself and it works for you. Life brings experience and experience brings skills, wisdom and knowledge of people and their ways that will enable you to learn to communicate with just about anyone.
References :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_skills
