Do computer engineering majors get jobs in software development?

I know that computer engineers tend to focus on the hardware aspects of computers, but could an engineering major specialize in software and land a job in software development? Also, are there any kinds of computing jobs where software and hardware sort of meet? I’m trying to decide on whether or not I should major in Computer Science or Computer engineering. Both hardware and software really interest me, but it seems like I’m going to have to decide between one or the other.

He likes his employees more than he should

You are in a catch 22 situation. I’ll explain, if you break it off he will not show you any favours and will probably treat you badly. If you leave the position he may give you unflattering references. If you stay with him you will be compromising yourself and undermining your integrity by doing something to get "ahead".

Personally I think its going to be difficult for you any way you look. Clearly this man is abusing his position of power. If you take that power away by rejecting him then he will resent you and treat you badly. Of course if he does so then you could take him to court. If he fires you – unfair dismissal, sexual harassment etc. or something along those lines. You would have to take to an employment solicitor. But legal action should always be a last resort in my opinion, we should try and avoid being litigious wherever possible. Since this is about his power, you have to come up with a way to make him want to break up with you and to think that he has the upper hand, but it has to be sly. Once you have done this you have to do the whole "i’m sad but I understand why you feel that way". So anything from marriage proposals to I want your children, but make sure that whatever you do, you know he wants the opposite. To find his weakness your going to have to be very subtle. things like "my friends and I were talking about having children the other day, what do you think about children…"

Personally I think such a route is fraught with variables that you cannot control, as a consequence I think your best option is to either leave your job for a "promotion" elsewhere. Or come clean and be honest about the fact that you think its unfair on the other employees that you get favourable treatment, and it feels inappropriate to continue. Tell him you like him but not enough to warrant such inequality in the work place.Therefore you want to break it off. Tell him you are sorry, and that he’s a good looking guy, who will have no problem finding someone else.

You could also try pointing out that if something goes wrong between you both, that you will be the one to pay because he has all the power, and because of this you feel its puts you in a really compromising position and you didn’t realise how complex it could be when you began sleeping together. You therefore think it would be wrong to continue to sleep together.

Whatever you do it may not be easy. Personally I would look for another job, and vow never ever to get yourself into such a position again. Unless the attraction is mutual. Even then be cautious.

I am finding a hard time researching recent articles within this year about peace and world development other than those related solely about the issues of the world. I want to find something specific about people making a difference, or policies being changed/made. If anyone knows a site, article and or specific subject matter that would be very helpful.

computers influence one’s ability to think. for example, you. you decided to post this question on yahoo answers, instead of answering the question by yourself. people like you become self-reliant on technology to give them answers. instead of using what your god given talent (which is negligible), to complete your homework, you resort to yahoo answers, where uneducated people will screw you over. hope this helps!

He is worried that he will not be able to do this course due to not having very good maths grades. Will this effect him getting onto the course? Does the course teach the maths needed within the course?

Really it depends on the uni. You need a good maths grade to do games designing but it doesn’t have to be a very good or high. (I never done an A-level in maths but I do games designing)
The course pretty much covers the maths you need and at uni its not hard to get tuition help from other people studying maths or something who need extra cash.
It might effect him though, I mean if they got his application & someone elses and that other person had better grades they would choose the other person

Should I get a degree in Web Development or Computer Science?

I still have to get my generals out of the way, but I am considering being a web developer. The most suggested degree for this field is Computer Science, but I looked at the courses for this degree at one college and none of them even touched on coding. Would having a degree in Web Development be better for my preferred path, and would it look just as good on a resume?

I would suggest a computer science degree, because its pretty broad in the computer industry. In my opinion why study one aspect in a computer world when a computer science degree can help you if you decided to something else with computers.
