Taking Bangalore as a case study we look at the causes of urban poverty, including urbanisation and push pull factors of rural to urban migration. We then visit Bangalores slums to see the impacts of this poverty. The programme provides visual examples of poverty indicators, including: poor housing, sanitation, lack of access to public transport, education, water etc. The programme then visits various poverty alleviation projects covering: sanitation and clean water, housing and overcoming caste prejudice.
