What are the development costs of a computer network?

I’m interested in finding out the development costs of building a computer network like Google, Yahoo or Amazon. What are the costs? What would the develpment time look like? What kind of software/hardware would be needed?

that depends what you would call a computer network. google, yahoo and others alike use mainframe servers (prolly IBM).
the costs of these vary largely. you can get a mediocre one for about $100,000. think how many of these you would consider a computer network and you’ll get a price.
development time – depends on what you want to run on this "network"
