I still have to get my generals out of the way, but I am considering being a web developer. The most suggested degree for this field is Computer Science, but I looked at the courses for this degree at one college and none of them even touched on coding. Would having a degree in Web Development be better for my preferred path, and would it look just as good on a resume?
I would suggest a computer science degree, because its pretty broad in the computer industry. In my opinion why study one aspect in a computer world when a computer science degree can help you if you decided to something else with computers.

Web Development is MUCH MUCH simpler then Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Basically web languages are made off software languages and remade into scripts with interpreters.
So I doubt Web Development is a full educational path, more like a Minor. Personally I would suggest either Computer Science (this is good for Web Development) or Software Engineering (this is almost the same as Computer Science, except it focuses on code creation, rather then on mathematical algorithms.) Web Development is just a matter of learning the languages, so getting that as a degree is a thing I cannot recommend.

either but computer science is a little more broad. All i can say it there is a huge market for computer science majors right now.

Computer Science. Web Design holds you down to only one field, where in computer science you will learn more languages that you will be happy that you did in case Web Development doesn’t work out for you.
