think it was delivered in India by a Dr from M.I.T. has developed a way of using sensors on fingers and projection onto any surface to enable various computer uses and real time updating and scanning….

I’m aware of a company called Light Blue Optics that developed a system that sounds like what you’re talking about:

They recently exhibited at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Someone called Pranav Mistry developed a UI called "Wear Your World" which might also be what you mean:
