Personally I think its going to be difficult for you any way you look. Clearly this man is abusing his position of power. If you take that power away by rejecting him then he will resent you and treat you badly. Of course if he does so then you could take him to court. If he fires you – unfair dismissal, sexual harassment etc. or something along those lines. You would have to take to an employment solicitor. But legal action should always be a last resort in my opinion, we should try and avoid being litigious wherever possible. Since this is about his power, you have to come up with a way to make him want to break up with you and to think that he has the upper hand, but it has to be sly. Once you have done this you have to do the whole "i’m sad but I understand why you feel that way". So anything from marriage proposals to I want your children, but make sure that whatever you do, you know he wants the opposite. To find his weakness your going to have to be very subtle. things like "my friends and I were talking about having children the other day, what do you think about children…"

Personally I think such a route is fraught with variables that you cannot control, as a consequence I think your best option is to either leave your job for a "promotion" elsewhere. Or come clean and be honest about the fact that you think its unfair on the other employees that you get favourable treatment, and it feels inappropriate to continue. Tell him you like him but not enough to warrant such inequality in the work place.Therefore you want to break it off. Tell him you are sorry, and that he’s a good looking guy, who will have no problem finding someone else.

You could also try pointing out that if something goes wrong between you both, that you will be the one to pay because he has all the power, and because of this you feel its puts you in a really compromising position and you didn’t realise how complex it could be when you began sleeping together. You therefore think it would be wrong to continue to sleep together.

Whatever you do it may not be easy. Personally I would look for another job, and vow never ever to get yourself into such a position again. Unless the attraction is mutual. Even then be cautious.
