Children are like sponges, the first 6 years of their life they learn so much and it is the best time for them to learn new things. Want your child to be bilingual? Start teaching when they are very young! It is harder for children as they get older to learn a new language.

Parents are usually the first people a child bonds to and thus becoming their first teacher. Babies learn to trust their parents because it is their parents that take care of them when they are infants when they feed, clean, and hold them. Babies recognize their parents voices when they are born, many times you can see a newborn’s reaction to mom or dad’s voice. It is the parent that begins the process of the social-emotional development.

Caregivers and teachers should be the ones that help the parents with this development later on. The basics should come from the parents and any "tweaking" can be done by a teacher or caregiver. Many times parents believe that it is someone else’s job to teacher their child but they must understand that they are their child’s only life long teacher.

How could educators counteract some of the negative effects of computer use?

First, the easiest and the shortest : act as you will negate for bad effects from other sources i.e motivate but don’t coax. Then control his time with the computer; sort out the priorities loud and clear — he must also study, play out side and make friends in the neighbourhood. Visit regularly the "history" in the browser and know what are the sites he visits (of course if he has not already known how to remove that) and bar these to be logged (Zone Alarm can help you). Sit with him and browse the interesting sites he will like and get him interested for the good sites. Tell his parents that as he grows his curiosity will grow and will try to discover the unknowns.There is no harm in visiting websites but parents must keep an eye on where he swims as some sites have undercurrents and he may be swept away from his goals.

Matthew is 7 months old and still doesn’t have real good control of his hands. I was reading in a book that I should be concerned by this at his age. He just turned 7 months. Am I freaking out over nothing?

every child is different. if you are really worried i would take him to his doctor. but he is only 7 months old. i think that it will take some time for him to have any control over his body parts. i have three kids and they have all developed at different levels. if he is playing and doing other bay things, then he is probably fine.
